Collingswood Bible Presbyterian Church was born during the fundamentalist / modernist controversy that raged during the first half of the 20th Century. On March 27, 1938, under the able leadership of Dr. Carl McIntire, a local group of more than 1,000 Bible-believing Christians left the PCUSA. Obeying the New Testament call to "come out from among them and be ye separate" (II Corinthians 6:17), they left the denomination and the buildings they, their parents and grandparents had paid for, because of heretical teachings that were tolerated, and in some cases promoted, in that denomination: including, but not limited to, denials of the Deity of Christ, the virgin birth, the substitutionary blood atonement, the verbal, inerrant, infallible inspiration of the Scripture, the literal bodily Resurrection of our Lord, and His genuine supernatural miracles.
Collingswood Bible Presbyterian Church is the founding church of the Bible Presbyterian denomination (BPC), which now has churches both in the United States and worldwide.
